Aphex Twin 2010 Tour
Following the success of Aphex Twin’s 2009 tour, "the most inventive and influential figure in contemporary electronic music" (The Guardian, 2008), Justin was invited once again to work alongside Nicky Smith of Weirdcore to deliver a “visual extravaganza” for 2010.
For the 2010 shows, the custom software has been developed further and now features a live facial recognition system taking the visual experience to a whole new interactive level. The software tracks faces in the audience and overlays distorted Aphex Twin faces, a reference to some of the trademark Chris Cunningham videos and artwork. The first showing of this was at London’s LED Festival where it was a hit with the audience as members waited in eager anticipation to have an Aphex Twin head on theirs, and very quickly the web was littered with videos and comments about the show.
