Grandmothers Footsteps
Filmmaker Charlotte Wasserman produced a short film entitled ‘Grandmother’s Footsteps’, a film where Charlotte follows her grandmother as she retraces her steps escaping the Nazis. For the piece, ART+TEK were asked to create an audio track that complemented the emotions encountered along the journey.
The film joins Charlotte’s grandmother Edith on a journey to Vienna, a city she fled as a child. Exploring the events leading up to the Holocaust, Charlotte draws upon the memories of Edith’s childhood under Nazi occupation. Using a combination of instruments and sound design, the soundtrack takes the audience on an exploration through Edith’s melancholic memories.
