[re]locate
Tahera Aziz's art installation [re]locate is a multi-layered sonic exploration into the story surrounding the racially-motivated murder of 18-year-old Stephen Lawrence in 1993. The piece is concerned with the processes involved in struggling to preserve the memory of the event and offers new interpretations of what took place.
The installation delivers a timeline of samples and narrative through a custom built multi diffusion sound system. An interactive environment analyses the position of people within the space, altering the timeline according to their movements and locations. As no two visitors will navigate the space in exactly the same way, each experience is different reinforcing the ambiguity surrounding the investigation.
The piece has been shown in London and Manchester.
